SOXAL Safety Month 2009-"Think Safely,Act Safely."  [ Return towards  SOXAL News  ]

Launched on 5th May 2009 by our Managing Director, Mr. Woo Siew Wah, the SOXAL Safety Month comprised a series of safety-related trainings and activities.

Launched on 5th May 2009 by our Managing Director, Mr. Woo Siew Wah, the SOXAL Safety Month comprised a series of safety-related trainings and activities, culminating in the unveiling of this year’s safety theme, “Think Safety, Act Safely” which is also the Air Liquide safety message communicated globally.

Providing a competitive component to the campaign was the “Best Safety Campaign Award”, won deservingly by Special Gases, Electronic Gases and Chartered Gas Centre for their innovative efforts towards promoting safety at their sites. Individual efforts were also recognised through the Behavioural-Based Safety (BBS) Star Award, which identified and rewarded the SOXALites who demonstrated proactive safe working behaviours in their daily work.

The Safety Month also served to commemorate the successful implementation of the Behavioural-Based Safety Programme launched in October 2008. Earmarking 20th May 2009 as “BBS Day”, the BBS committee were able to meld fun with serious themes to engage SOXALites in a series of informative and exciting interactive games and activities. The activities entertained, yet educated them on the correct working behaviours. However, the highlight of the day was the in-house production of a Behavioural Safety Visit Video which saw the collaborative efforts of many departments and showcased the “oscar”-worthy performances of our colleagues.

The Safety Month Campaign and BBS Day may be over but its purpose of nurturing a safety culture in SOXAL has certainly been achieved. We will continue to “Think Safety, Act Safely” and take personal responsibility for our own and our fellow colleague’s safety and health.
